You may have seen some long cats in your time, but Omar might just eclipse them all.

The three-year-old Maine Coon from Melbourne, Australia weighs 14 kilograms (30 lbs) and at 120 centimetres (47 inches) long, could be the world's longest domestic cat.

His owner Stephy Hirst was contacted by Guinness World Records, who want to verify if Omar is the longest on Earth. The record currently belongs to Ludo, a Maine Coon from the UK, who measures 118.33 centimetres (46.5 inches) long.

"We thought he might be (the longest cat in the world) but we hadn't done anything about it because he might not be fully grown yet," Hirst told the Maroondah Leader.

Omar has his own Instagram account, which shows that being such a big cat comes with a unique set of problems. Like being able to reach anything you leave on a kitchen counter.

Omar looks like he makes for a great napping buddy though.

But sadly it can't quite find a scratching post that's big enough for him.

Omar also requires a special diet: He eats kibble specifically made for Maine Coon cats for breakfast, then for dinner feasts on raw kangaroo meat.

"He sleeps on the couch ... because he takes up too much room on the bed and he demands we cuddle and pet him all through the night," Hirst told the newspaper.

Despite Omar's ridiculous size, he really likes to hide in small places like kitchen cupboards. "But he is really good at opening doors, sliding doors, kitchen cupboards, shower doors, wardrobes, he’ll get past all of them," she added.

This long cat is long.
