Representatives Eddie Bernice Johnson and Sheila Jackson Lee shared the photos alongside the hashtags #DemInternDiversity and #DemInternSelfie.
The photos are just a few of many responses calling attention to the seeming lack of diversity in Speaker Ryan's photo taken on Saturday at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio.
In January, the Washington Postreported that people of color make up only 14% of the lawmakers at the state level, and only 17% of lawmakers in Congress. Ryan's selfie seems to reflect that fact, featuring a large majority of white interns. Naturally, the internet went in:
