Ganz worked on Community between 2011 and 2013, mainly under Harmon as show runner (his much-publicized ousting occurred in 2012, followed by a return the year later. Ganz did not continue writing). Ganz said it took her years to trust her writing again and to respond to gestures like an employer asking for a phone number or offering a compliment (things which Hollywood's men seem to now fear in perpetuity – but which are easy to execute without sexually harassing the other person).

Ganz and Harmon keep things pretty civil in an area where men get notoriously defensive. Ganz is matter of fact in how misconduct can stay with you for years: "You want relief? So do I."

Ganz also points out that putting distance between himself and his employees isn't necessarily the right solution for Harmon. There is everyday professionalism, and then there's the notion that inappropriate behavior is inevitable if a man in power spends time around the women who work for him – or as Ganz put it, the "Mike Pence School of Gender Relations."
