Handmaids in red robes and white bonnets stood in front of the Capitol Tuesday to protest the latest iteration of the GOP health care bill that's up for a vote in the senate.

The protesters -- clad in uniforms from Margaret Atwood's dystopian novel The Handmaid's Tale -- are demonstrating against a struggling senate bill that would overhaul Obamacare.

The vote has been delayed until after the July Fourth holiday recess, but the possibility of the bill's passage is still very real. It would affect women and reproductive health -- and not in a good way.

The gathering was reportedly organized by Planned Parenthood volunteers but was also highlighted by NARAL on Twitter Tuesday. Mashablehas reached out for more information.

Tuesday's handmaids' protest is one of many around the country in the past few months -- these protests have focused on cuts to women's health care options at the state level in Ohio, Texas, Missouri, and now at the Capitol.

The silent protest yet again speaks volumes about the impact the proposed health care plan would have on women.
