Happy birthday, Google! Thanks for the doodles!
A quarter of a century ago, American computer scientists Larry Page and Sergey Brin created Google. Today, the search-engine tech giant turns 25 years old and it's giving us all sorts of nostalgic surprises to celebrate the big day.
Google is known for delighting searchers with fun little Google doodles and Easter eggs. For instance, on Pac-Man's 30th anniversary in 2010, you could play the game in a G-O-O-G-L-E-shaped map on Google's home page. And one of my favorite Easter eggs on the site appears when you search "askew"and the whole page turns slightly – well – askew. According to USA Today, Google has created more than 5,000 Google Doodles to date.

For Google's 25th anniversary, if you search "happy birthday," hum the tune, or ask Google to translate the words "happy birthday," confetti will fall down across the page. In the top left of your Google page, you'll see that the two O's are replaced with a two and a five, representing the 25-year anniversary of the company. And if you go to Google's home page, you'll see a special Google Doodle for its birthday honoring its logo evolution.
As Google enters its 25th year, I, for one, am excited to see how it manages its quarter life crisis. Maybe a motorcycle?
